The TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products for accredited vocational training and assessment unit of competency provides an introduction to the Australian VET system. It covers the knowledge and skills required to understand some of the basics of a competency-based training system.

  • Analyse nationally recognised training products
  • Apply and use selected training products.

Assessment requirements for the TAEDES411 unit

Knowledge evidence

A TAE Student must demonstrate they have the following knowledge: [1]

  • VET regulatory requirements for using nationally recognised training products
  • RTO procedures relating to using nationally recognised training products
  • Function of nationally recognised training products in a competency-based VET system
  • VET sector structure and roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders
  • VET teacher, trainer and assessor roles and responsibilities
  • Purpose and use of the National Register of VET, including version control and identifying changes to nationally recognised training products
  • Purpose, key content and use of support material relating to nationally recognised training products, including companion volume implementation guides
  • Structure and overarching content and levels of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
  • Purpose, structure and contents of accredited courses, and endorsed training package qualifications, skill sets and units of competency, and their associated assessment requirements
  • Techniques used to identify foundation skills, including language, literacy, numeracy, digital literacy and employability skills
  • Methodology relating to analysing and using units of competency and their associated assessment requirements to meet the skills and knowledge needs of learners.

Performance evidence

A TAE Student must demonstrate the ability to complete the following tasks: [1]

  • Select a nationally recognised qualification to meet the needs of a learner cohort
  • Select a unit of competency or skill set that addresses the identified skills and knowledge needs of a learner cohort
  • Customise an existing training and assessment strategy to meet the training context and assessment environment.
